Primordial Soup with Ben Wright

A global exploration of the evolution of sound into music.

Ben Wright was raised in Philadelphia but has been living in New Mexico since 1996. Starting at the Colorado border, he gradually migrated south to land in Apodaca, Dixon, where he has lived for the past 3 years. As a double bass and sousaphone player, he has explored creative music from the inside, across multiple genres, but always returning to the wellspring of innovative improvisation. His curiosity into the human experience of sound has led him to intimately explore the vast diversity of musical forms across the globe. How do people arrange the sounds that please them into the music that they want to hear? He previously aired a radio show "Shaking the Pumpkin," on KNCE, Taos from 2015 to 2019. His current radio show, Primordial soup: A global exploration of sound into music, can be found on KLDK 96.5 FM, on most Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM.
